When it comes to residential real estate, understanding accessibility has always been problematic. Whether you’re buying, selling, or remodeling, realtors and real estate tools have historically lacked support for those seeking accessibility features in a home – until now. Accessibility experts Tom Minty from John L. Scott Realty and Barry Long from Marketplace Sotheby’s International Realty have created Able Environments. This new real estate company is focused on Accessibility, Universal Design, and Age-In-Place friendly homes. In this forum, Tom and Barry give a quick history of accessibility in real estate, explain some of the recent improvements to the listing system, and discuss the types of questions you should ask when creating an accessible real estate plan.
