The questions about medicines in this video range from side effects of antibiotics to treating dengue with papaya. The first question that is asked to Dr. Jagdish is about medicine side effects - Is it possible to get addicted to anxiety medicines? Anxiety attacks are perceived as a stressful or overwhelming worry, fear, and distress, which can occur in various levels ranging from mild to severe. Anxiety medication is prescribed to control anxiety attacks along with regular deep breathing exercises. Often benzodiazepines are prescribed as anxiety medicines. When taken over a long period of time in high doses, it is possible to get addicted to anxiety medicines. However, there are non-addictive anxiety medicines available these days that are equally effective in controlling anxiety and stress.

The next one is more of an observation rather than a question about medicines. A patient is worried that amoxicillin antibiotic causes loose motion, and hence, stated that they would never take any antibiotics! Some of the uses of amoxicillin are treating bacterial infections like:

ear infections in children
dental abscess

However, it is true that loose motion can be only one of the side effects of amoxicillin and a medicine allergy. Bloating, stomach cramps, and bloody urine are some of the other side effects of amoxicillin but not everyone experiences these medicine side effects. Dr. Jagdish says that generally medicine reactions like these enable doctors to either change medications or alter dosage if you are experiencing any medicine allergy. Dr. Jagdish says that the side effects of antibiotics are much lesser and bearable when compared to the severity of the disease you are suffering from.

Another interesting and common question asked across the country is, ‘Is it possible to prevent dengue with papaya?’ Dr. Jagdish explains that consuming papaya can only increase the platelet count and cannot stop the mosquito from injecting the dengue virus into a human body. There are many benefits of papaya, and the most significant one among them is boosting immunity by building the platelet count. Reducing heart disease risks, improving digestion, and its antioxidant properties are some of the other benefits of papaya.

Dr.Jagdish finally highlights how necessary it is to ask questions about medicines, their side effects, and dosage. And most importantly, he encourages people to consult with a doctor.
