The government has downplayed fears over the ongoing mobile tariff wars even as market leader Safaricom pumped up its war chest to ward-off a fierce onslaught by its bitter rival Airtel. Communications minister Samuel Poghisio says the reduction in tariffs was healthy for the economy saying recent reductions by operators were still within the parameters set by the communications commission of Kenya-CCK.
