At INSEAD we are celebrating one such idea and the mind behind it: Professor Philippe Aghion, The Kurt Björklund Chaired Professor in Innovation and Growth at INSEAD, whose pioneering work on economic growth has been recognised with the 2025 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences.

At a special gathering to recognise Professor Aghion, Dean Francisco Veloso, Dean of Research & Innovation Lily Fang, Dean of Faculty Peter Joos, as well as Professors John Fernald and Laurence Capron reflected on the power of ideas to transform the way we think, teach and lead.

One theme stood out: Professor Aghion’s impact reaches far beyond theory. His Nobel Prize for the idea of “sustained growth through creative destruction” continues to inspire action, policy innovation and new frontiers in economic thought. A true reflection of the INSEAD spirit.
