Parliament has passed the bill to increase the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) limit in the insurance sector from 74% to 100%. There was extensive debate on this bill in Parliament, but all amendments moved by the opposition were rejected. The insurance employees' organization, Insurance Employees Association, has opposed this decision, and questions are also being raised about the success of this scheme.
