Luas Cross City Timetable Test 11 November 2017
From 07.30 to 09.30 on the morning of Saturday the 11th of November 2017, the first timetable test of the new Luas Cross City line took place. The test consisted of 13 trams operating across the new line at intervals as small as three minutes. The trams operated from the depots at Broombridge and Sandyford and traveled between Brides Glen, Parnell and Broombridge. Ten 402, two 401 and one 301 type trams took part in the testing. The first shots are filmed on Marlborough Street, where we film to southbound trams. The next location is on Parnell Street at the junction to O'Connell Street, northbound trams can turn left to towards Broombrige or right to the Parnell stop and return to the south via Marlborough Street. Other shots in the video include O'Connell Street with trams passing the GPO (General Post Office) and the Millenium Spire, O'Connell Bridge, Trinity College at College Green, Dawson Street and the new Rosie Hackett Bridge. The Luas Cross City line is a major new infrastructure project in Ireland, consisting of a light rail line running from St. Stephens Green in the south of Dublin City Centre through the city to Broombridge, located in the north of the city centre. The line is being built for Transport Infrastructure Ireland and will be operated by Transdev under the Luas brand. The line is scheduled to open on 10 December 2017. Trams featured in the video include: 5026, 4008, 5011, 5006,5002, 3020, 5005, 5010, 5012, 4003, 5007, 5001 and 5009. Overall the test seemed successful, hopefully with some adjustments to traffic light sequences in the future to give trams better priority. This video features numerous shots of buses in Dublin, including Dublin Bus, Bus Eireann, Air Coach, Matthews, Liams Bus Hire etc.
