McKinney Ave. Streetcar Service - Dallas, Texas - November 9-10, 2011

The Mckinney Ave. line is interesting. I enjoyed walking, riding, and filming it. Most operators run the cars in series because of the auto traffic. A few times I saw the cars run in parallel. The south end of the line near downtown is single track and bucks the one-way traffic for a few blocks. This will eventually change when additional trackage is built which will allow the cars to go further in to downtown ant to loop around the block. This looping will allow single ended cars to operate downtown. The other end of the line already loops around the block. The City Place station single track branch off the northwest end of the line will have a turntable to turn cars. The construction of this turntable was nearing an end at the time this video was made.This turntable is of course completely unnecessary since a normal streetcar loop could have been built. I suppose that the turntable is being built as a tourist attraction. From an operating and maintenance standpoint it is a bit over the top.
