South Georgia Region Honor Band

Valdosta State University welcomes more than 300 middle school and high school band students to campus for the 2024 South Georgia Region Honor Band weekend. Representing 54 schools, students will spend three days perfecting music for a free, public performance at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, in VSU’s Whitehead Auditorium.

Chad Simons, associate director of bands and associate professor of music at the University of New Mexico, will lead the region honor band for students in grades 11 and 12.

Jeffrey Rowser, director of bands at Morgan County High School in Madison, Georgia, will lead the region honor band for students in grades nine and 10.

Atlanta-based composer Tyler Grant will lead the region honor band for middle school students.
