Every year, millions upon millions of people travel into America’s National Parks; and every year, a number of them seem to vanish into thin air. Most are ultimately found alive and well within the first twenty-four hours after their disappearance, but every now and then the story doesn’t have such a happy ending. Over time, the cases of those who were found deceased - or more mysteriously never found at all - pile up, presenting what appears to be a disproportionate number of incidents within a given area. Commonly referred to as “clusters” within the overall community of those interested in the Missing 411 phenomenon, groupings like this form the basis of Paulides’s series; which presents the hypothesis that these strange disappearances are in some way connected, and that the truth is being deliberately hidden by the powers that be.
There are sixteen names listed in the Great Smoky Mountains section of David Paulides’s Missing 411: Eastern United States, and over the last several months, we’ve taken a magnifying glass to almost all of them. After rigorously researching nearly every listed case in the Smokies, I’ve broken them up into a few categories. There are those cases which have simply been solved, those that lack details or have a questionable explanation, those that are strange but not necessarily paranormal, and then those that defy all reason. In today’s episode, we’re going to go through each case and explain why it was placed where it was, and then give our conclusion as to what, if anything, is behind these disappearances.

Correction: The book in question during the Trenny segment was by Juanita Baldwin, not Juanita Broadrick.
