The team was anxious to see it fly and sent it out early. This is a skeleton prototype, no missile bay, no avionics, RAS has not been painted on, not even all control systems are hooked up.

PAKFA is the first domestic aircraft to come out of Russia since the collapse of USSR. It is a fifth generation stealth aircraft which currently has three prototypes constructed although according to Aviation Weekly more than 100 are slated to be created by 2015.

It is somewhat larger, carries less weapons, yet faster and lighter than the compact American Raptor counterpart and surprisingly available for export at twice the price. It carries far more sensors than other fifth generation fighters with similar avionics to the Raptor called the AFAR system which combines the stealth aspects of multi-faceted radar systems with the power of static radar. It also has a very capable OLS system (similar to F35 but more compact) and of course backwards facing radar.

Russia is also planning to create a stealth bomber and a stealth light interceptor variant with the hope of having an all-stealth Air Force available for export and combat at some point in the future.
