The Banker | The dress code

Set in the 1950s and 1960s, "The Banker" begins with Bernard Garrett (Anthony Mackie), a savvy and ambitious African American man who aspires to break through the racial barriers in the real estate industry. To achieve his goals, Garrett recruits Joe Morris (Samuel L. Jackson), a successful and experienced businessman, to be his partner. However, they face numerous challenges due to their race, as African Americans are often denied opportunities in the business world.

In order to overcome these obstacles, Garrett and Morris devise a plan to use a white man, Matt Steiner (Nicholas Hoult), as the face of their business while they pull the strings behind the scenes. They train Steiner to act as the frontman for their real estate and banking ventures, as he poses as the owner while Garrett and Morris secretly make the important decisions.
