Surrey Police is appealing for the public’s help in an appeal for information into the murder of Scott Wilkinson in Walton-on-Thames on the year anniversary of his death.

On the evening of Wednesday, 27 July 2016 local man 48-year-old Scott Wilkinson was brutally murdered on the island near Sunbury Lock in Walton-on-Thames, known locally as ‘Donkey Island’.

Scott left his home address on Monday, 25 July 2016 to go fishing. He pitched his tent near to the water’s edge on the northern side of the island, it was secluded amongst trees, close to Sunbury Weir.

On the morning of Thursday, 28 July 2016, Scott was reported missing from the island. Following a search of the area, Scott’s body was found at around 4.25pm that same day, a short distance away from where he was fishing the night before.

A post-mortem examination carried out concluded the cause of death as trauma to the head.
A year on after Scott’s death, detectives investigating the murder need the public’s help in identifying a dog walker captured in CCTV footage.
