UNHCR is seeking a Work-Based Learning Consultant to lead a multi-country assessment aimed at expanding access to internships and work-based learning (WBL) for refugee students in higher education in Ethiopia and Kenya. This home-based consultancy offers a unique opportunity to shape inclusive education systems and support refugee students’ transition to employment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive study on barriers and opportunities for WBL access among refugee students.
Map existing WBL components within higher education programs.
Analyze student participation, learning outcomes, and barriers.
Evaluate university-employer linkages and private sector engagement.
Identify policy reform and capacity-building opportunities for sustainable WBL inclusion.
Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Education, Social Sciences, International Development, or related field.
Minimum 6 years of experience in higher education, TVET, or WBL research.
Proven expertise in mixed-methods research.
Strong understanding of refugee education and East African higher education policy.
Excellent analytical, writing, and facilitation skills in English.
