In this video, I’m recapping one of the craziest camps I’ve done yet—ice storm camping in a summer tent. I headed out knowing the weather was going to be rough, but I wanted to see how my setup would perform in real winter conditions.

Temperatures dropped into the low 20s, and ice steadily built up on the tent throughout the night. Even without much wind, the ice storm created challenging conditions and made this a true test of preparation, gear, and planning.

From heating the tent and managing ventilation to relying on a capable sleep system if anything went wrong, this camp pushed everything I brought with me. In this recap, I go over what worked, what surprised me, and what I’d do differently next time.
