The team crosses the Atlantic again, this time to North America for two World Cup rounds in a row. First stop USA to race in Snowshoe, West Virginia.
Logistic is always a part of the equation to success for World Cup teams, and overseas travels can sometime be challenging. The first thing to do after landing is checking the bikes and equipment. Then it was time to assemble the bikes and drive to Snowshoe from Washington, were we landed.
The weather conditions made things harder during the whole week, bringing rain and muddy terrain. However, riders managed to adapt and had a successful weekend.

Thursday and Friday were a bit sunnier but on Friday evening the short track course was still tricky and slippery. Sebastian Fini did his best race in XCC so far. He smartly led during some laps to avoid crashes and narrowly missed the podium in the last lap’s battle, finishing 4th. Best result in XCC also for Pierre de Froidmont who was 9th, securing a second row start, as for Janika Loiv and Malene Degn who were 10th and 15th in the Women’s race. After he started from the back of the peloton, Erik Haegstad made a strong comeback to finish 18th, so close from the second row also for the XCO.

Sunday offered the riders different riding conditions, depending on their categories. In the morning for U23s, Luca Martin raced in a mud from the other days, that was beginning to dry. He managed to stay with the front group the whole race and finished in 4th position. Then the rain came in the middle of Women’s race. Janika Loiv and Malene Degn adapted their ride the right way and ranked 11th and 17th. The weather got really bad for the Men’s race. Heavy rain, strong wind and mud baths. The battle was set for another wild race. The team started in an impressive way, with our 3 riders together in the front group during the first laps. They had to deal with several contingencies linked to the severe conditions but managed to finish without any major crash and really close to the team win of the day. Pierre de Froidmont ranked 10th, Sebastian Fini 14th and Erik Haegstad came back to 19th after he had to stop to change a broken pedal.

No time to rest now. We just arrived in Mont Sainte Anne for the next round and the first race in less than 5 days!
