As a survivor of childhood rape it is apart of my mission to change the tragic realities prevalent in many of our communities. Just a few stats! Over one million women are raped every year, and one in five women have been raped at some point in their lifetimes. Rape is not just a women’s issue; 1 in 71 men have been raped, and 28% of them were first raped when they were 10 years old or younger.
Every 92 seconds a person in the U.S. is sexually assaulted. Every 9 minutes, that victim is a child.

How can you help someone who has been sexually assaulted?
Encourage them to seek help. Offer to be there for any of the things they might be going through, like going to the hospital or police.But also, be patient as they open up. Listen to them. Believe them. And be supportive.
