Grand Ely Lodge in Ely, MN is a resort and event center up in the northern part of Minnesota right next to the entry to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Built in May 1996 originally as a Holiday Inn, this property was acquired by Madison Hospitality Group in 2000 reopening as Grand Ely Lodge. Madison Hospitality Group also owns Thumper Pond in Ottertail, MN, The Holiday Inn and Willy T’s in Alexandria, MN. Open all year round this resort provides lodging and event space for adventures in any season. There is a full restaurant and bar that serve not just the guests but the local community as well. We have had many family get togethers at those tables over the last 30 years. We love the 2 room suite for our 4 person family with our two kids being a boy and girl this offers a bed and pullout couch in the main room with another bed in a private room for some privacy. There is also a jacuzzi and that is just an added bonus. The view from this room however is the bees knees. I mean look at that. Imagine sitting here in the summer sipping your morning coffee or tea soaking in the sun and that view! The deer are always around when we come to visit it just makes it so much better. We even saw a person ski joring on Shagawa lake. Brings back a lot of memories. We highly recommend visiting Ely and when you do make sure the Grand Ely Lodge is your lodging option to stay!
