Hi, and welcome back to the channel. Today's video is taking a wee video looking at Prestongrange museum and the surrounding area which is situated a few miles outside Edinburgh.

The former Prestongrange Colliery, on Scotland’s east coast near Prestonpans, was once a busy centre of coal mining. Worked from the 18th century, it supplied fuel for homes, salt works, and industry, shaping local life for generations.

Miners laboured deep underground in tough, dangerous conditions, forming close-knit communities above ground. By the mid-20th century, the coal seams were exhausted, and the colliery closed, leaving behind memories of hard work, resilience, and an industry that powered Scotland’s past.
