Here are 5 things I didn’t consider before moving here — and every single one surprised me 🤯👇

1️⃣ The size of DFW is no joke
You can drive an hour and still be in the metroplex. I seriously thought, “Wait… we’re still in Fort Worth?” 😅
Each suburb feels like its own little city—with its own vibe, schools, and community.

2️⃣ How much people love their local schools
Whether it’s a public ISD, private academy, or charter—families here are all in. The school pride is real! 🙌
Also, school starts in August—earlier than I was used to.

3️⃣ The weather has mood swings
Freezing in the morning, 90° by afternoon. A sunny forecast can flip to a tornado warning by dinner.
Also—ice shuts down the entire city. Like… fully shuts down. 😂

4️⃣ How big of a deal community is here
From Friday night lights to HOA movie nights and neighborhood Facebook groups—people show up for each other.
It’s something I didn’t know I needed until I had it. 💛

5️⃣ You can get land and still be close to everything
I never thought I’d have a yard big enough for a trampoline, firepit and soccer goals… and still be 15 minutes from Target.
It’s the best of both worlds.
