Fifty South Texas ISD students - 25 from Health Professions and 25 from Medical Professions – participated in the DHR Advanced Clinical Research Internship program held in late June. The purpose of the internship is to expose rising juniors and seniors to the basics of translational and clinical research with the ultimate goal of enhancing their interest in biomedical sciences and future careers in STEM. Activities fostered a better understanding of biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research and its implications on the Hispanic population, while enhancing the diversity of the workforce in STEM careers.
