TikTok user Faizal Siddiqui has come under massive criticism for his video which 'glorifies' acid attack on women. Faizal Siddiqui has posted a TikTok video on his account in which he is seen throwing a liquid on the face of a woman who betrayed her. The liquid is compared to acid in the video which burns the face of the woman. The woman in the video is seen with paint on her face to give an impression of acid attack injuries.

After the video went viral on social media, BJP leader Tejinder Singh Bagga took to Twitter and requested National Commission for Women chief Rekha Sharma to take action against Siddiqui for glorifying acid attack on women. NCW chief has taken cognizance of the matter and said that she will take up this matter with the TikTok authorities and Police.

Several users on social media platforms criticised Faizal Siddiqui for making this video and demanded action against him. Many people are also calling out TikTok for allowing such content on their app.

Acid attack is one of the most heinous forms of violence and women especially are its target. Acid attacks have become one of the growing crimes to harass and threaten women in India. There has been a constant demand from various sections of society that convicts in such cases should be given the harshest of punishments as it ruins the life of the acid attack survivor. The act of acid attack changes the life of victim irrevocably. The consequences range from permanent blindness to dissolution of bones, ears and nose, apart from depression and anxiety.

In past, there have been several such videos posted on social media which glorify acid attacks. There has been a constant demand from various women rights organisations that such videos should be taken down immediately from social media accounts as it may encourage an acid attack on women.

National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Rekha Sharma on Sunday responded to a tweet by BJP's Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga which highlighted a shocking TikTok video promoting acid attack on girls. In the video, Faizal Siddiqui, a popular TikToker with over 13.4M followers is seen throwing water on a girl, which is hinted to be acid, while threatening her for leaving him for another guy. In the next scene, the girl's face is shown in heavy red makeup suggesting burns. 

Tagging the NCW Chairperson, Tajinder Bagga brought to light the matter, soon after which Rekha Sharma confirmed that she would be taking up the matter with both police and TikTok India.


Faizal Siddiqui is a member of team nawab and the brother of Amir Siddiqui. His brother Amir has recently been in the hub of controversy after he made a lengthy TikTok video where he gave his opinion on why TikTok is better and has more content than YouTube. He tagged all the major names on his video like CarryMinati. In response to this, Youtuber CarryMinati posted a now-deleted roast video titled YouTube vs TikTok ' The End. The video became an internet sensation as the YouTuber expressed his opinion about the feud that the creators of the two platforms had against each other.  YouTube removed the video based on its harassment policy in that it had updated in December 2019 stating that they will not tolerate harassment.
