Alexander Nox was a scientist working at Humbert Labs. One of the leading scientist developing pesticides and gases for the Outlands. Nox became so involved in his work that he would see the beauty in death. Humbert Labs would soon find out about Nox and his experiments, which ultimately left Humbert Labs a burning disaster. Presumed dead, Nox would change his identity to Caustic and join the Apex Games where he is free to perform his experiments on willing test subjects.
