This song is a living memorial for our brother Ashley Vincent Hazelwood II who has been in our lives since we were all teenagers in Hobart. Ashley was a funny bastard, an extremely generous friend, wildly creative and adventurous, endlessly enthusiastic about all kinds of music and musicians, and very free with his considerable skills and knowledge about fingerstyle playing, slide and the canon of great acoustic guitar songs. He was also a founding member of the band Wild Pumpkins At Midnight. We invited him in to the ExIsles too late and were only able to finish this one song with him, but it's a beauty. Ashley was already quite ill and recorded his guitar and voice on a phone, then we did our best to add our parts and mix it, with his input along the way.
He left us on Saturday 11th November 2023. All our love to Kate and the kids and to all his other friends and family. His like will not come this way again.
