In this week's Grand Adventure we're camping in an extremely popular boondocking area called Sand Flat, located at over 6,700 feet of elevation on the southwestern flank of Mount Shasta, elevation 14,180 feet. We'll explore the area surrounding this Cascade volcano, including the towns of Mt. Shasta, Weed, Dunsmuir and McCloud, visit McCloud Falls and Hedge Creek Falls, and go kayaking on a glacial tarn called Castle Lake.
