Omeprazole (Losec, Prilosec, Zegerid): Professional Medical Summary - In Depth

This is an informational overview video on Omeprazole. This is the in depth version suitable for medical students and medical professionals. Omeprazole is a substituted benzimidazole derivative which selectively inhibits the stomach acid production by blocking the proton pump of the parietal cells. Omeprazole is available under several brandnames: Losec, Prilosec, Zegerid, losecosan, and Omecat.

In this video I will explain when to use Omeprazole, how to use Omeprazole, what dosage to use of Omeprazole, what are the side effects of Omeprazole, and is Omeprazole safe to use when pregnant or while breastfeeding. We will also discuss the interactions with other medications, some advice for when you use or prescribe Omeprazole, and the contra-indications for the use of Omeprazole.
In addition I will also explain if Omeprazole is safe to use while driving, and if Omeprazole is safe to use with alcohol.
