Allah ﷻ says in Surah Yunus (10:5) that the sun and moon were created in truth and precision — signs for reflection, not omens of destruction.
The Prophet ﷺ made it clear:
“The sun and the moon are two signs from the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of the death or life of anyone.”
(Saḥīḥ al-Bukhārī & Saḥīḥ Muslim)
When his beloved son Ibrāhīm رضي الله عنه passed away during an eclipse, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ immediately corrected superstition. He did not allow emotion to turn into false belief.
So why did he pray during an eclipse?
Because the eclipse is not a sign of danger —
It is a reminder of Qiyāmah.
When the moon darkens temporarily, we remember the Day when:
The sun and moon will be joined,
Stars will collapse,

Mountains will crumble.
