Also known as the #kingquail or #chinesepaintedquail, this species is precocial, meaning chicks hatch with down and can walk immediately. But without their mother’s warmth, they cannot survive. This became an urgent #animalrescue .

We rushed the tiny “bumblebee” indoors and gently warmed him in our hands before setting up a critical care brooder. Unlike songbirds, baby quail don’t beg for food — they must be taught how to eat.
