In today's episode I put Diagnosis Pad to its limits to see how to compares to a real doctor when it comes to diagnosing tricky clinical cases.

Diagnosis Pad is a patent pending state-of-the-art application that uses Artificial Intelligence to aid practitioners with diagnosis, guidance, transcriptions and notes all in real-time, on-device and private.

It does this by using background ambient audio heard during consultations, the system transcribes audio fragments and processes them locally on the device without any cloud processing. Providing the practitioner with information as the consultation evolves.

The application, like many others has the ability to write notes, however it, unlike other applications, provides real-time recommendations on questions to ask and provides the user with the top three differential diagnoses according to the conversation that has been had.

The user is able to click on the differential diagnoses and the artificial intelligence provides reasoning behind its thoughts with appropriate links to reputable health websites for verification. The diagnoses are context aware according to the conversation between the patient and doctor.

By enabling real-time analysis and decision-making, the application improves healthcare professionals’ ability to make accurate diagnoses and develop effective treatment plans, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.

The user is then able to save these sessions on their device, label them accordingly and ‘share’ them to the patient file.

These features are beneficial to medical practitioners but also particularly useful for practitioners who have limited internet connectivity, or who may be practising rurally with limited support and need some guidance. It is also useful for medical students who may be learning or studying for exams. Similarly, it can be used for triaging patients by administrative or nursing staff to allocate an appropriate consultation.

The application is used to guide practitioners rather than replace them. We all know that even the best Artificial Intelligence can make mistakes. However, it does open the doors for much needed improvements and advances in the medical field.

To date Diagnosis Pad has been presented in industry conferences including the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
