Update 2: I eventually sold the Z30 due to frustration with overheating while outputting 4k and 1080p60 through HDMI. currently using the original Sony ZV-E10 without issue beside it's crop in 4k 30 fps, so I'm hoping I can swap that camera for the newer one at some point.

Update: I currently own the Z30 because I wanted something to replace everything I had in the EF-M system that I sold. Needed something on a budget and I already had Nikon Z equipment. I see various limitations with the camera the worst of which is heat with long recording at 4k. The recently released Nikon DX 12-28mm looks pretty nice! I’d be tempted to go all Nikon if they’d release something with a video focus that’s a step above the Z30. I still have a pair of Canon EOS M6 Mark II cameras for mostly video that basically have the same feature set as the Z30, so little point upgrading sideways in my case. For people just starting to get into online video creation I do think the Z30 is a fine option. Especially with recent discounts taking the body price down to $607 on B&H (as of the creation of this article).
