How a Leslie speaker works - that classic B3 organ sound

Here at LAPR, we wanted to take a quick video of this for you while we had it out for prep! A Leslie speaker is a specialized amplifier commonly used with Hammond B3 organs and similar instruments. It's renowned for its distinctive rotating speaker effect, creating a dynamic and spacious sound. The speaker features a rotating horn and a bass rotor, enhancing the organ's tone by producing a swirling, three-dimensional quality. As the organist plays, the sound is fed through the rotating components, causing a Doppler-like shift that imparts a sense of motion to the audio. This iconic combination became a hallmark of classic rock, jazz, and gospel music, and remains sought after for its unique sound.
