A Ride on The Incline Railway at Lookout Mountain

The word of the day is "funicular." Can you say "funicular?" I knew you could.

We had some time so we took the Incline Railroad up Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, TN. I've never been to the top of the mountain* myself, and it was a lot better than I thought it would be. The prominence of 1500 ft (457 m) gives a fantastic view of Chattanooga and the plateau.

The ride is pretty cool. It's actually quite steep, and I believe the claim that it's the steepest railroad in the world. There are two cars on the railway that are connected via the mechanism at the top of the mountain, so the weight of one car helps the other up the slope.

We had to put some music on top of the shot of the car arriving at the station. There was a group with 5 or 6 young kids that was *SO LOUD*. Nothing like a flock of 6-year-olds all complaining about something that adults find ridiculous. In defense, I did hear one of the adults say "you need to yell louder because not everyone heard you." LOL

* NERD ALERT: Lookout Mountain is actually a ridge in the Cumberland Plateau. There's a strict definition of "mountain" that it doesn't meet.
