Daily Devotional for June 3, 2025

"Whoever believes in the Son of God carries the witness within themselves." - 1 John Chapter 5 verse 10.

There's a wealth of evidence available before one even takes the leap of faith—more than most people bother to collect about anything that piques their worldly interest. Yet, the most extraordinary and impactful testimonies are saved for the soul's satisfaction of believers. While skeptics cling to their doubts, faith bestows incredible privileges. Some might wish for a tangible sign—a pristine white stone from the heavens, inscribed with their name alongside God's—a keepsake they can hold onto. But believers find joy in a testimony that resonates deeply with their faith.

Christ promised us His Spirit, His very presence, and the indwelling of the Father in the hearts of those who believe. That means the witness lives within, bringing us the faithful and true voice that never lies and guides us into all truth.

The testimony of this inner witness is as diverse as the Spirit's many workings. The fruits of the Spirit are vibrant expressions of this divine assurance. Reflect on the roles of the Spirit as outlined by Christ in John Chapter 14 and 16, and don’t overlook the powerful insights in Romans chapter 8. The preceding chapter reveals the despair of existing without this witness. There’s no testimony in the world more worthy of our acceptance. After all, who would dare claim that the human spirit, even with the best aid from the adversary, can fully replicate the awe-inspiring and blessed workings of the divine?
