On the menu of tonight's menu we see a 15 minute chat about the Miruns - a delightful dish! Fellow worldbuilders and writers may greatly enjoy any lessons they take, whether they be of the "wow I should do something similar" kind or the "wow that's awful I'm gonna do the opposite" kind.
Miruns are the resident telepaths of the Afterworld, and like all things Afterworld contain a mixture of biological grossness, danger, tragedy, beauty and just a bit of the funny.
Telepathy can be rather... setting-breaking. More accurately, it's something that can completely upend a setting when introduced, making many previously logical elements make no sense whatsoever, and being something that someone would have to constantly take into consideration when adding anything.
Miruns are not the focus of the Afterworld story, although there are quite a few Mirun characters. To contain their "but that doesn't make sense when telepaths exist" power, their numbers and capabilities are quite limited for reasons made apparent in the video, and many of them actively avoid the exact profession only they can do because it is dangerous.
