The Laughing Man (Hipergeo Project) for Vis 40

With Hipergeo, users can use this app on their android devices to follow alongside with the terrorist called the Laughing Man just like in the anime series Ghost in the shell. The user must follow various way point in Tokyo Japan as directed in Hipergeo to properly participate in this project.

The idea behind this project is to retell part of the Laughing Man story in respect to real life. How would fictional places look like in real life? What if we were able to physically see and interact with TV shows and movies in real time? 3D technology is doing its best to render 2d planes into reality. Currently, we have 3d holographic projection such as Miku Hatsune's concert and on the American side Tupac, but we still have a long way to go. The goal of this project is to piece together some of the missing links in the media that attempts to emulate life like conditions we see every day.

As the participant follow alongside the Laughing Man, they are able to experience the story of the Laughing Man in a unique freedom. Participants can freely start the journey or leave at any given time. While executing the journey they are given a first person encounter with the characters in the story while interacting with the physical world. Some critical people might question who the laughing man is and why is he terrorizing people? Where was the character standing at a particular event? How did that character feel in that particular surrounding from the setting? Participants can discover their answers in their own unique journey as they follow along each checkpoint.

Maybe in the future the creator will give us more options or better yet technology has finally caught up with Google Glasses.
