Jah Shaka Nine Night — JetBlakMix

Jah Shaka, the Zulu Warrior, soundsystem owner, and music producer, was honoured by family, friends, and fans this week, Friday April 21st 2023, with a nine-night celebration held for him at Goldsmith's University in NewCross, an area not far from Lewisham where he resided. Jah Shaka is an icon and a beacon of light for many diverse communities of people, through his heavy dub roots music, which he is known for around the world.

I first heard Shaka play, in 1977 when I moved to Brixton from Kennington, and went to a dance in Brixton Town Hall. My life was forever changed, and I was set on a new spiritual path, from that moment, and so I will always give thanks to Jah Shaka for germinating the seed of the person that I am today.
