Jerusalem's oldest Synagogues | Video tour

Описание к видео Jerusalem's oldest Synagogues | Video tour

With David Hyman, Israeli professional tour guide. Jerusalem's old city is considered one of the 4 holy cities of Israel ( The other three are Tsfat, Tiberias, and Hebron) and as such was continuously inhabited by Jews throughout the generations. Many synagogues were active in the Old City, and during the survey that was prepared in the 20th century, over 80 synagogues were counted. For 19 years (1948 - 1967) the Old City was under Jordanian rule and many of the synagogues and Jewish homes were destroyed. After the Liberation of Jerusalem in 1967 major renovations were conducted and many of the ancient synagogues were restored. Our tour will take us to a few of these synagogues. Hurva synagogue is the most famous landmark of the Jewish quarter with the 24-meter dome soaring above the central plaza of the Rova. We will see the beautiful interior and climb to the roof for the 360 panoramas. Then we will visit the four Sephardi synagogues that were built in the 16th century by Spanish Jews who fled from Spain during the explosion of 1492. We will end with a quick glimpse into the oldest active (Rabbinic) synagogue of Jerusalem, Ramban synagogue founded by Rabbi Moshe Ben Nachman in the 13th century

Thanks, Shiri for always being there for me, love you
