Interphase is a critical stage, as it ensures that the cell is ready to divide and produce healthy daughter cells. Any errors during interphase can lead to abnormal cell growth or division, potentially resulting in cancer or other diseases.
Mitosis and cytokinesis follow interphase, resulting in the division of the cell into two identical daughter cells.
