Note: 10mm pin penetration is not always enough. You can check the coupling between the sensor and wood by rotating the sensor with straight fingers. If the sensor will not rotate, the pin has been properly inserted into the wood. If you are able to rotate the sensor with a straight finger, you need to drive the pin in further so that it has reached the wood and can no longer be moved.

Also: when collecting measurements, you don't have to hit the sensor very hard with the hammer, a light tap is sufficient. The sensor should not move when measurements are being taken.
