Faber Castell Creative Studios Goldfaber Colored Pencil Review

Hello my artsy friends and welcome back to the studio. In today's video we are taking a look at Faber Castell Creative Studios Goldfaber Colored Pencils. With art supply production since 1761 Faber Castell never seems do disappoint which it products, and these pencils are no exception to that rule.

There are 48 complete colors in this line and we are looking at the pre-packaged set of 24. You can buy them in sets of 24, the complete 48, or open stock from many different places. These pencils fall into the student grade category of supplies, but in my opinion preform better than some pro sets that I have used. These pencils are opaque in vibrancy, and work wonderful for stand alone artwork done in only colored pencils. With that said, that does not take away their ability to pair really well with other art supplies in mixed media work.

Pros:
* Super vibrant and bright colors
* Smooth creamy soft lead with extremely easy color lay down
* Round barrel for easy and comfortable holding
* Highly pigmented
* Layers very well and mixes super cleanly
* Reacts immediately when water is added
* No huge color shift after drying down
* Lightfast

Cons:
* Only 48 colors in complete line
* Opaque colors (only a con if you like purchasing transparent sets)
* No color names listed on packaging or pencils (Can be obtained from web site by matching pencil numbers to listed colors)
* No lightfast ratings listed on packaging or pencils (Packaging and website claims that they are highly lightfast - Faber Castell is a trusted brand)

In conclusion, I think the pencils are absolutely wonderful. You get all the pros (in my opinion) that one should look for in a colored pencil with hardly any draw backs. I would highly recommend them to artist of all levels. Giving this set or the complete set as a gift to a beginner artist would be a blessing. For when one begins the materials they are expose to can make or break their drive to continue.
