The MXR JD M-291 Dyna Comp Mini Compressor… is it any good? - What do They Do? & Do You Need One?

As I continue my journey back to playing guitar, effects pedals are of course part of that trip and if I thought there were numerous pedals to choose from back in the 1970’s – In 2023, the choices just became almost impossible to keep abreast of what’s available and new pedals just keep coming.

MXR Pedals need very little introduction, they began life in 1972 in New York, later to be owned by Jim Dunlop and are well-known for their build quality. The MXR JD M-291 Dyna Comp Mini Compressor comes in a deep red finish and for a mini pedal it covers enough compression features for those looking for a compressor that's easy to use, and without doubt feels and sounds like a quality pedal. Once again, for those looking for more compression features then you will need to look else where. Guitarists such as David Gilmore (Pink Floyd) would stack compressor pedals.

This video shows close-up easy to view illustrations of the pedal at work, and while not an exhaustive review and test, this should help anyone who is considering a small compression pedal or indeed the MXR JD M-291 Dyna Comp Mini Compressor... Enjoy!
