Anamorphic illusion painting

Just a short video for fun, while my next painting is still in progress ! I figured I could have a little fun with perspective and anamorphosis. A painting that can only be seen from a specific angle and looks distorted from any other spot !... Guess how I did it ! (Answer below)



Here's the answer : This was made only with positionning, no computer work, no grid, no projection, just painting paper and my molded skull... I had to chose a spot at an angle, on the side, about 2 meters away from my canvas, and always go back to that exact position to check my painting. It's actually the spot where the camera stands at the end. It's the only spot where the distortion of the perspective let you see the painting as if it were flat. Painting at an angle like this is strange in the beginning but it doesn't take long to get used to it, but always stepping back at this angle is annoying in the end.

Juste une petite vidéo pour s'amuser en attendant. Je me suis dit que j'allais expérimenter un peu avec la perspective et l'anamorphose : c'est un type de peinture qu'on ne peut reconnaître que d'un angle bien spécifique et a l'air déformée de n'importe quel autre endroit.

Avez-vous deviné comment j'ai fait ?...

Voilà la réponse : Cette peinture a été faite uniquement par le positionnement, pas de retouche par ordinateur, pas de grille, pas de projection... Juste mon modèle et un papier spécial peinture. J'ai du trouver un emplacement spécifique sur le côté, à environ 2 mètres du modèle, et retourner à chaque fois à cet emplacement pour vérifier ma peinture. C'est à cet endroit que se trouve la caméra dans le dernier plan. C'est en fait le seul endroit d'où la peinture donne l'impression d'être plate. Peindre avec un tel angle est étrange, ce n'est pas forcément très dur, ça prend juste un peu de temps pour s'habituer.
