PNG NOAS Selects 23,428 Students for 2026 Tertiary Studies

The Papua New Guinea Government, through the National Online Application System (NOAS), has confirmed the selection of 23,428 students for admission into tertiary institutions for the 2026 academic year, marking a significant milestone in the country’s higher education intake.

Higher Education Minister Kinoka Feo announced that the selections followed a rigorous and merit-based process coordinated by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST). The process screened a total of 35,012 applicants nationwide.

According to the minister, the applicant pool comprised 32,401 Grade 12 school leavers and 2,611 non-school leavers, reflecting strong national demand for tertiary education opportunities across universities, colleges, and technical institutions.

Of the total students selected, 15,688 places were allocated to school leavers, while 7,740 places were offered to non-school leavers. Minister Feo confirmed that all available government-supported spaces for the 2026 intake have now been fully allocated.

He emphasized that the NOAS platform continues to strengthen fairness, transparency, and accountability in the selection process, ensuring students are admitted strictly on academic merit rather than external influence.

Minister Feo also acknowledged the ongoing support of development partners, including the Australia Awards Scholarships program, for assisting DHERST in improving tertiary education systems and access across Papua New Guinea.

The official list of selected students is expected to be released publicly through DHERST and NOAS channels, with successful applicants advised to follow institutional enrollment instructions once confirmations are issued.
