October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a time to celebrate the skills, talents, and contributions of individuals with disabilities and to champion inclusion in every part of our communities.
In this interview, we focus on the dual diagnosis of autism and Down syndrome. Our guest shares insights on how understanding both conditions and providing the right supports can empower individuals to reach their goals, build meaningful connections, and thrive at school, at work, and beyond.

By recognizing each person’s unique strengths and needs, we help create pathways toward greater independence, opportunity, and inclusion.

Meet our Host: An attorney, educator, and advocate who serves as President of the Autism Society of Florida. She’s also a proud mom of three, including her son Samuel, who has autism.

Meet Alexai Perez: disability advocate, entrepreneur, and mother of five, including her 22-year-old daughter Zofia with Down syndrome and autism. She also serves as the Administrative Coordinator at the Autism Society of Florida.
