NJ is loaded with rail history, and the most prominent at this location were the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad, and the Lehigh and Hudson River Railway.
The L&HR arrived in the 1870s, and the Warren Railroad built what would be the Lackawanna Railroad main line in 1856. This 3 arch viaduct is NOT part of the Lackawanna Cutoff; it is the original main abandoned in 1970. the L&HR was abandoned in 1986.
