Shizumaru is a lone wanderer without memories, except for a single one: having seen a demon amidst a reddened field of vision–this being the only clue to his past.
Supposedly, due to this vision, and not having any family, he believes that they were murdered.
Seeking to avenge them, Shizumaru has resolved to find and slay the demon.

Shizumaru is a very accessible character in this game. Umbrella normals have relatively good hit detection & damage as well as decent priority. Combo possibilities are great too, especially from the back via jump-in C crossup. Also, many AI opponents almost never block the crouching close B, which can be canceled into special moves even from the frontside (including the super, dizzy!)

I prefer the ss3 version of Shizumaru the most. Again due to the voice acting and mannerisms (slightly more dignified than in the later games), but I also like how he mostly attacks with the umbrella, reserving the sword only for special moves.
