PAINTING VIDEO DESCRIPTION – Looking for an easy autumn painting idea? Let me be your acrylic art instructor as I teach you easy step-by-step instructions throughout this fun beginner art video as you learn how to paint an autumn waterfall landscape surrounded by fall foliage—a beautiful scenery painting “WATERFALL IN FALL” with acrylic paint. It occurred to me right after I decided to paint this image that I have not seen many waterfalls in my life. I have seen a lot on TV and in the movies and there are quite a few waterfalls that I would love to visit in my lifetime, like the one that Leonardo DiCaprio jumped off of in the movie The Beach, or the one that Tom Cruise and Elizabeth Shue made love under in the movie Cocktail, or the waterfall that Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas went over in their car in the movie Romancing the Stone. When I actually sat down and thought about it, there have only been a handful of waterfalls I’ve seen in-person. Bash Bish Falls in Massachusetts, Niagara Falls in New York and Crabtree Falls in Virginia, are the only big ones that came to mind. Looking around for inspiration and Googling images has made me realize that I have been missing out on a lot of waterfalls. Cumberland Falls, Tahquamenon Falls, Havasu Falls, Burney Falls, Multnomah Falls, Union Falls, and Yosemite Falls, just to name a few. I should probably start by visiting ones a little more accessible than others, so, when I Googled “waterfalls near me” a bunch came up that I never heard of. Cohoes Falls, Kaaterskill Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Bridalveil Falls, Royalston Falls, just a short drive away. Who knew? Maybe we should all Google waterfalls nearby and see what pops up. You just may be surprised! And what better time of the year to paint a waterfall than in the fall with all the bright autumn spectacular colors. So, join me and let’s paint this easy acrylic painting! First, after learning how to draw a landscape by using a simple dot to dot method, you’ll apply a simple base coat to your rocks and pool. Then you’ll paint a sky and out of focus trees using a scrubbing technique to create dimension in the clouds, sun and forest. Then you’ll learn how to paint rocks by layering colors and using a wet-on-wet technique to create richness, form and texture. You’ll learn how to paint water by layering colors to create movement, depth and ripples. You’ll then learn how to use a fan brush to paint a waterfall, followed by adding highlights and reflections to the water below creating movement. Then you’ll paint tree trunks and branches using a one brushstroke technique. Lastly, you’ll paint leaves by using a simply dotting or stippling technique to create fullness to the leaves. The art lesson is so easy to follow, you’ll have confidence to change the painting. You could add different color leaves or water to reflect different seasons. The point is to have fun and create the perfect canvas wall art fitting to decorate your home for the fall season. Using only 3 brushes and 6 colors, you’ll paint like a professional and create the best canvas painting in the world! Have a date night, paint party, or virtual paint night. Paint with gouache, oil paint, or watercolor, any medium will work! Paint just for fun or for art therapy. I hope you enjoy watching this Youtube art video and let's get painting and let's get sipping!
