Glock 20 Gen5 vs S&W M&P 10mm

The Glock 20 Gen5 and the Smith & Wesson M&P 10mm: two great options for the backcountry or home defense. Similar in length and height, the grip of the M&P is slimmer since it uses thinner metal mags compared to the polymer Glock mags. We felt the M&P trigger has a crisper break at the wall. The Glock trigger isn't bad - we actually like the Gen5 triggers when it comes to an everyday carry, self defense, use case - but there is very slight "mush" before it breaks, compared to the trigger on the M&P 10mm.

The 10mm round is a high velocity, "flat-shooting" round, with ballistics comparable to the .357 Magnum cartridge. With that additional energy, comes additional recoil - when compared to the ubiquitous 9mm round. The large frames and slides of the Glock 20 and M&P 10mm help mitigate that to an extent but its definitely a round you want to train extensively with before carrying it.
