The coal is emptied from the barge using an excavator which transfers the coal to the conveyor belt which carries the coal to the traveling stacker, which forms a tall pile. An adjustable moving conveyor is then dumped directly into the hold of the ship. This is an efficient loading technique especially suitable for larger vessels.
