If you want to sort a column numerically, such as in this example, in column B, simply left click on a cell in the column, say B3, $213, so it is highlighted, and note that the name associated with this amount is Jessica.

Next, make sure you are on the Home tab at the top of the worksheet, and in the editing section near the top of the worksheet, left click on the sort and filter icon and a drop down box will appear. In the box, left click on the sort that you want, in this case largest to smallest.

And now the column has been sorted, and the numbers in column B have stayed attached to the names in column A, as Jessica has $213 as the amount she spent.
