African American History in the Oak Hill Community

Описание к видео African American History in the Oak Hill Community

Take a trip back in time to learn about African American history in the Oak Hill community. Oak Hill is a privately owned 18th century Georgian-style home that was preserved in 2004 through the purchase of an historic easement. That easement agreement provides limited public access to the property each year. The home and adjacent properties are all that remain of the Fitzhugh land grant, known as the Ravensworth Tract, totaling more than 22,000 acres -- dating from the 1670s. This was one of three plantations owned by the Fitzhugh family and includes the house and the historic landscape, complete with 200 year-old boxwoods.
